Inspired
By The Bible Experience claims to be the most ambitious undertaking
in recent recording history. The Bible is brought to life
by a collection of distinguished artists and personalities,
including Denzel Washington, Blair Underwood, Angela Bassett
and Cuba Gooding Jr, in a complete and fully dramatized audio
recording of all 66 books of scripture. The 368 character
portrayals are further accentuated by a compelling and inspirational
musical soundtrack. Inspired By The Bible Experience presents
scripture orally, the same way most people have interacted
with the Bible through the centuries. But the production is
thoroughly modern, combining Hollywood’s finest talent
with the latest sound design, enabling listeners connecting
with the Bible in a fresh compelling way. |

Inspired
By The Bible Experience was the winner of the Audiobook of
the Year 2007. The honor was bestowed at the Audio Publishers
Association's 12th annual Audie Awards in June. |
Listeners
will be engaged by this new audio Bible because it takes
the passion and spirit of scripture and gives it the production
and quality of a major motion picture. The dramatization
is enriched by an original musical score composed by Grammy
award–winning producers. And the recording is truly
contemporary, using the accessible Today’s New International
Version of the Bible. The features of Inspired By The Bible
Experience provide a rich listening experience, helping
listeners hear the words of scripture as if for the first
time. Inspired By The Bible Experience has launched with
the New Testament, with the Old Testament scheduled for
release in the fall. |

Oscar
winners Forrest Whitaker and Cuba Gooding Jr are among the
star-studded cast for the Old Testament edition of Inspired
By The Bible Experience. Whitaker will voice Moses and Gooding,
Jonah in the new release. Also among the 200-plus cast members
confirmed for the Old Testament audio Bible, which follows
a year after the successful debut of the New Testament, are
LL Cool J, Angela Bassett and Denzel Washington and his wife,
Pauletta, who read Song of Songs. |

Inspired By
The Bible Experience is a dramatised recording of the New
Testament on 19 CDs. I found that my previous audio Bible,
The
Gospels Come to Life, read by singer/songwriter Michael
W Smith, was difficult listen to for any length of time due
to the breakneck speed of delivery (presumably to limit the
number of CDs required). The variety of actors and slower
pace of Inspired By The Bible Experience makes it a much better
proposition for sustained listening. More importantly, the
dramatisation brings a greater understanding of the scriptures.
Listening to Peter floundering as he tries to walk on water
in Matthew 14 allows you to put yourself in his shoes, and
you really empathise with him. The large cast includes Samuel
L Jackson as God and Blair Underwood as Jesus. Other actors
include Kirk
Franklin, Denzel Washington and Cuba Gooding Jr. If, like
me, you are a Star Trek: The Next Generation fan, it can take
a little time to get used to LeVar Burton (Lieutenant Geordi
La Forge in the TV series) as John. The music, by Quincy Jones
amongst others, has a military feel to it, and adds to the
overall listening experience. My initial concern over the
use of the TNIV translation (Today’s
New International Version) has largely proved unfounded.
This updating of the NIV has proven controversial with some,
not because of its simplification (eg the NIV says that Mary
was “with child”, whilst the TNIV says Mary was
“pregnant”), but because of its ‘gender-inclusive’
stance. This means that in the TNIV, Romans 3:28 reads “a
person is justified by faith” instead of the NIV’s
“a man is justified by faith.” Importantly, however,
masculine references to God the Father, Son, etc are not changed
in the TNIV. I would recommend this audio version of the New
Testament to those who, like me, have busy lifestyles, yet
want to spend quality time “in the Word”. It is
perfect for journeys to and from work, or for listening to
around the house whilst doing chores. It stands up well to
repeated listening, enabling greater understanding and retention.

I think this is an awesome work that I am so very, very proud of. I had the opportunity to hear bits of a marketing video with Blair Underwood speaking the last words of Christ. I tell you, all who weren't Christians prior to this project I am willing to believe that they are now, and that is all that matters; that is the Gospel preached in action. Thanks to all who are responsible for its creation. I am going to use it as Christmas presents for my family and friends. Thanks.

It
would be most pleasing to also have a dramatized recording
of the Old Testament. — Apostle Bille Johnican |

I
don't like it when people who are not Christians are on it,
like Common, who talks about adultery and black Islam. It
makes me sick. We should have a real one with Cross Movement,
Ken Ham, Hazakim, Jonny Mac, Paul
Shepard, Tony Evans, Kirk Cameron, and Todd Friel, some real
biblically sound believers.

Not so long ago religion was a personal matter that was seldom discussed in public. No longer. Today religion is everywhere, from books to movies to television to the internet to politics. Now religion is marketed and advertised like any other product or service. How did this happen?

Is the
