What
kind of digital camera should I go for? There seems to be
a bewildering array of choices. The good news is that you
don't need to spend huge sums of money to produce professional
quality results. Here we present our pick of the latest and
best in digital photography. |
|
 |
 |
There
are three main types of digital camera: SLRs which allow you
to change the lens, 'bridge' or integrated-lens cameras which
often look like SLRs, but have fixed lenses, and compact cameras,
which are so small they often fit in a pocket.
Now that digital SLRs have come down in price, the popularity
of bridge cameras has declined. SLR cameras are the main choice
for anyone serious about digital photography. They give you
complete creative control over your images, but have a steeper
learning curve than simpler models. They often allow you to
use lenses and flash guns that you may have from 35mm film
cameras, but because of the smaller sensor size, a 28mm wide-angle
lens may be the equivalent of a 42mm lens. Also, the sensor
is vulnerable to dust when changing lenses, so look for models
that incorporate dust removal.
Many photographers use two cameras: SLRs for more serious
work and compacts for snapshots. |

Canon
Digital Rebel XTi / EOS 400D Digital SLR Camera
The best selling digital SLR camera, and with good reason!
10.1 megapixels and Canon's Integrated Cleaning System deliver
crisp, clean images, shot after shot. The sensor employs the
same CMOS image quality advantage of its big brothers in the
professional EOS 1 range. Super sensitive in low light and
virtually noise free, the CMOS is also fast and power efficient.
For consistently pristine results, a complete dust prevention
and cleaning system works to keep the sensor spotless. A combination
of technologies reduces, repels and removes dust and includes
a Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit that shakes dust from the sensor
with each power on. Reviewing your work is a delight with
the super bright 2.5" 230k pixel display — nearly
twice the size of the previous model. Photos feel crisper,
richer and more saturated, while a 160° viewing angle
makes for easy at-a-glance checking and sharing.

Why are
there so many books on digital photography? We think it's
because the books that keep coming out miss the mark on what
most photographers really want: a book that cuts through all
the techno-stuff, and uncovers the secrets the pros use to
create amazing photos.
